The Beach This is the beach which adjoins the Park. It is less than 4 minutes walk from our central amenity block and stretches for about 13 miles along the north coast of the Dingle Peninsula. Naturally we think our stretch is the best - it's golden sand, still usable at high tide for safe bathing and never crowded. If you come in April, May or September, you may be the only people on it! The Weather The Park nestles in a semi circle of spectacular mountains, the Slieve Mish, which creates its own micro-climate. We can't say it never rains - how else could it be "The Emerald Isle"? But because the Gulf Stream passes this way it's mild (we have palm trees and fuchsia hedges) and the weather rarely stays the same for very long. As they say around here, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes"! |
What to See and Do There is a lot of exciting scenery to be seen including the Conor Pass towards Dingle and Slea Head Drive, from where you can see the Blasket Islands. There are great places to visit like Dingle, Inch Strand (where Ryan's Daughter was filmed), Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. As you might expect, there's lots of water sports especially windsurfing. There's fishing (coarse and for brown trout) diving, golf, and good walking and cycling. We are on The Dingle Way. Many of the restaurants and pubs close by offer excellent food at all price levels. Some have Irish music in the evening and all have "the craic". There is good shopping in Tralee and Dingle. CastleGregory (1mile) has a well stocked general store with cash dispenser and a few other shops. There's so much to do that you may run out of time before you get through even half of it. |
